Social media blew up around CES for the four days of the show, According to international social media analysis firm Talkwalker, there were nearly 640,000 mentions of the hashtag #CES2017 during the four days of the show, with nearly a third of those mentions taking place on opening day .
The car brands ruled social media during the show, with Mercedes Benz owning four of the top five trending social posts and the fifth belonging to BMW. Marvel Entertainment created a buzz on Friday that carried through the end of the show, claiming three of the top 10 social posts focused on the movie Spider-Man: Homecoming.
The busiest hour of CES in terms of social media was from 4-5 p.m. on the show’s opening day, with more than 14,500 mentions. It was during this period that Sleep Number premiered its new 360 Smart Bed and launched a sweepstakes, resulting in the hashtag #SNSweepstakes garnering 2,600 mentions in a one hour period. The hashtag #Spidermanhomecoming peaked at 1 p.m that day with nearly 1,400 mentions in that hour.
Over the course of the full-day of Thursday with those 600,00 plus mentions of CES2017, the busiest full day for social media posts, every major brand was represented with Intel, IGN, Google, Google+ and Android leading the way.
